Washington, NC is more than just a destination…it's also a perfect starting point for exploring everything North Carolina has to offer, no matter what your interest is.

Arts & Culture

The arts are alive in Washington. You can see that for yourself as you stroll through the historic downtown: works of art appearas giant crustaceans throughout the town, each one decorated by different regional artists.

Downtown is also home to independent galleries like The Inner Banks Artisan Center, River Walk Gallery & Arts Center, the Lone Leaf Gallery, and the Art Tyndall Studio, featuring the works of hundreds of artists. The Beaufort County Arts Council, one of the oldest arts councils in the state, and the NC Estuarium present exciting exhibits and programs throughout the year for art-lovers of every kind.

ArtWalk, a roving celebration of the Washington arts scene, is held on the second Thursday in February, May, August, and November.

But it's not just about the visual arts in Washington! Everyone knows the Inner Banks loves music, and you'll see it everywhere in the city. Many local restaurants feature live music during the weekends, and The Beaufort County Traditional Music Association shares sounds and entertainment with audiences at the Inner Banks Artisan Center.

Washington is also known for our music festivals as well, like April's BoCo Music Festival and Music In The Streets, held on the 3rd Friday of each month from April to October.
